thanx mate, the line "install “allfonts”, “vcrun2005″, and “d3dx9″." made my day:)

Other guides say that only vcrun2005 is needed, but on my Ubuntu 9.10, all these three are needed.

Thanx again!

Thanks for the info. I also have a Holux GPSlim 240, and I am running Ubuntu 9.10. I followed the instructions, but GpsDrive doesn't seem to capture the GPS data. It always shows "no gps data". I look into the /dev/ directory but I don't see 'rfcomm4'. Additionally, by default, gpsd also adds "-F /var/run/gpsd.sock" as additional arguments.

I ran the previous commands successfully with almost identical output (except for the device address, of course).

I never tried installing from the CD. That CD is pretty out of date by now anyway. I suggest downloading the latest install from eve-online.com. The patch process moving forward from the CD version to the current version will probably take just as long.

I don't suppose you know how to get the EVE install CD working do you? I tried using wine to open the eve_premium_setup_74306.exe but it creates the error "Access Denied" even though I'm running of the main administrator. Perhaps a locked disc?
Thanks!

In RoM, there is almost nothing to do in the house or in the guild castle. Well, you could arrange your furniture or grow plants, but all meaningful activity happens outside.

The trade hubs are very busy, and it's easy to find raid geared people to gawk at near the AH, mail box, or the enchanter.

Regarding player housing...

I think that Blizzard *could* make amazing player housing for World of Warcraft, but chooses not to. They've said that they want the Azerothian cities to remain full of life when asked about Dalaran and Shattrath auction houses, so the same could apply to this situation.

I would imagine that if everyone could go hide out in their player house (or guild house, since players often ask for that, too), then the cities would only be full of level 1 bank alts.

And, then how would my own bank alt be able to gawk at all the new dungeon gear on the level 80's? :-)

I haven't used my GPS with wine, but here is a post from a guy who has: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=39497

He makes a link in ~/.wine/dosdevices/ to rfcomm0 and wine apparently can use this to communicate with the GPS.

Thanks for your help.

Further to my above;

I disconnected from blueman and followed your advice from point "4" above, i.e. pretended the hang never happened and went on to the next step

I used "rfcomm0"

I have managed to get xgps and Gpsdrive working

However when I run SOBvMAX through WINE, there is no GPS input to the program despite the steady light showing the GPS is connected to the notebook.

SOBvMAX shows that ports COM 1, 2, 3, 4 are detected but no GPS input.

Would appreciate some help with this specific problem.
